DORCHESTER, MA — February is Black History Month which is an annual observance originating in the United States that celebrates African- American history.
To kick off our celebration, our Front Desk staff created inspirational displays in the lobbies of our Marr and McLaughlin buildings. Each display honors past and present heroes that have paved the way for so many in our country and serve as role models for our nation. These displays serve as an educational tool for our young members to learn about their history.
Learning Hub members are also creating posters about inspirational leaders that they look up to! Each poster has a short biography, fun facts, and why the member looks up to them. Once they finished their posters, they were displayed around the Club for other members to read and learn more.
Our teen members are also posting videos on our social media every day of the month, sharing fun facts and important moments that pertain to Black history. Make sure to follow our socials to check them out! Facebook | Instagram | Twitter
