DORCHESTER, MA — On September 17th, 2019, BGCD recognized 83 members during the 28th Marr Family Catholic Schools Scholarship Ceremony.

In partnership with the Archdiocese of Boston, the fund has recognized over 1,800 scholars and distributed over $1.34 million in financial assistance to BGCD members attending Catholic Schools. The program began in 1992 with a gift from the estate of the late Daniel Marr, Jr, who helped found the Club back in 1974 with his brother Robert L. Marr. For the second consecutive year the fund was augmented by a Gift from Robert to ensure more deserving BGCD members were included.

A special thanks to Robert L. Marr and the entire Marr Family for their continued support of our Club members and their families.

BOSTON, MA — Ten lucky members were able to attend the Boston Red Sox game last week compliments of our friends at IBEW Local 103 located in Dorchester.

Our members had the chance to go down on the field before the game to watch batting practice and even meet some of the players! This moment was a chance of a lifetime for our members and will always be a special memory for them.

ORLANDO, FL — 150 of our members took part in Rodman’s Disney for Kids Program this past week. This opportunity allowed our members to go to Walt Disney World with their closest friends and staff before the school year starts. They enjoyed parks such as Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. They also went to Universal Studios, which consists of two parks full of many themed rides like Harry Potter, Transformers, Spimpsons and much more.

A special thanks to Rodman for Kids for allowing our members to go on this once in a lifetime trip and for everything you do for Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester! These are the memories that will last forever.
